ch = chain
ss = slip stitch
tr = Treble
UK Instructions
Make 6 chains, slip stitch into 1st chain made to form a ring
Round 1.
3 ch (to count as first tr), 2 tr into ring, 2 ch, * 3 tr into ring, 2 ch**
repeat from * to ** 2 more times
you should be back to the 3 chains you started this row with, ss into the 3rd chain loop (the top part of the 3 chains) to close the row
ss into the top of the next 2 tr (you should now be at a corner space) ss into the space
Tip before round 2: count the large holes (called spaces in crochet patterns) you have just made (not including the centre) there should be 4 (1 at each corner). These are the holes (spaces) you will be crocheting for round 2
Round 2.
3 ch, 2 tr into the space, 2 ch, 3 tr into the same space, 1 ch
*3 tr into the next space, 2 ch, 3 tr into the same space, 1 ch **
repeat from * to ** 2 more times
you should be back to the 3 chains you started this row with, ss into the 3rd chain (the top part of the chain) to close the row
ss into the top of the next 2 tr (you should now be at a corner hole (space) ss into the space)
Tip before round 3: count the large holes (spaces) you have just made (not including the ones from the previous row) there should be 8 (1 at each corner and 1 in the middle of each side). These are the holes (spaces) you will be crocheting into for round 3.
(I will put in brackets corner space or middle space so those new to granny squares can double check they are crocheting into the correct place)
Round 3.
3 ch, 2 tr into the space, 2 ch, 3 tr into the same space, 1 ch
3 tr into the next space (middle space), 1 ch,
*3 tr into the next space (corner space), 2 ch, 3 tr into the same space, 1 ch
3 tr into the next space (middle space), 1 ch **
repeat from * to ** 2 more times
you should be back to the 3 chains you started this row with, ss into the 3rd chain (the top part of the chain) to close the row
